# Ways to Contribute to the Community Document

Katie Schueths gave us an update to the ongoing process of creating the [Community Handbook](https://opensource.ieee.org/community-handbook).
A [Ways to Contribute template](https://opensource.ieee.org/community-advisory-group/ways-to-contribute/-/blob/main/README.md) has been created and there is an ask that we review the template and provide feedback.

# Update on Tech Conferences

Silona gave us an update on conferences she attended or will be attending. She attended OSPOCon last week. Her promotion of SA OPEN in talks was well received from academia and government sectors. Good networking with attendees. Public good and diversity aspect is in synch with SA OPEN’s mission. Our mission is humanitarian.

All Things Open (ATO) is coming up next week. Oct 17-19, 2021. Good opportunity for recruitment of volunteers for SA OPEN. Silona, Raul and Emily will be attending in person. Some of our volunteers and contributors are also speaking at ATO. We have an [SA OPEN web page](https://saopen.ieee.org/ato2021/) set up to highlight our volunteers and contributors.

We will be backfilling our volunteer appearances at various conferences with videos on SA OPEN pages. We will start with ATO 2021 once the videos are released.

Silona is recruiting volunteers for the working groups.

# Workshop for Roadmap 2022 for AGs

Silona presented idea for future workshop for all of our AGs. Maybe the second week in January 2022. All four groups and their sub-groups to come up and work on a better roadmap. What do we want to work on for the 2022 year. We have to go fairly early for Europe for time. We may create a poll in the town square to get input on when to hold it. Looking for TAG to plan their part of the workshop with their sub-groups.

# Platform Update

Lisa gave us an update on platform. We are up to 402 projects, 142 groups, 938 users and
406 pipelines. Previous GitLab release was 1.10 putting us at GitLab version 14.3 to fix the problem with GitLab pages. Next week we are set to deploy release 1.2.0 to include a fix for Grafana, improvements to secrets management module, ansible tests for CI/CD which will bring us up to GitLab 3.3.

Milestones section has these updates if you have access to Infra Playbooks Repository. When we move up to a more open schema these tickets will be more open and accessible.

Lisa will update these notes.

# Adjourn and Next Meeting Date

Our next meeting date is October 27th, 2021 at 2PM Eastern.
